Upon arrival in Sri Lanka, one of our representatives will meet with you and assist you to your own personal chauffeur who will take you to Colombo, the commercial capital of the country. Upon check in at your hotel, you are able to rest, relax and recover from any jet lag. Travel to the first capital of Sri Lanka, Anuradhapura. This ancient town, full of its world heritage sites, is not a place to be missed especially for those history buffs. You will be amazed by the wide range of sights on display from as far back as the 5th century. From visiting the ancient dagabas (temples), monasteries, ponds, and gardens, you will get a glimpse of the cultural and religious life of ancient Sri Lanka..

Wake up fresh and relaxed in anticipation of climbing and exploring the fortress city of Sigiriya. Sigiriya, is the creation of King Kashyapa who reigned around 5th century. The rock fortress is rich in history and is a favourite site for both local and international tourists. The lion rock is surrounded by the remains of a city complex with gardens, defensive structures, fountains, reservoirs and number of brick buildings. The lion mount or the Singha Pada, carved out of rock and the famous painted frescoes are a must see!

Next, visit the second capital of the island nation, Polonnaruwa. Polonnaruwa served as Sri Lankas capital in the 11th century and has been declared as a UNESCO world heritage site for the ancient ruins scattered throughout the area.

Another world heritage site, Dambulla cave temple, is the largest existing cave temple built on a 600 feet high rock.. The ancient marvels within the temple are sure to be awe-inspiring. There are approximately 80 documented locations of other caves in the area, indicating that caves were used as a prehistoric dwelling place before the arrival of Buddhism to the country.
Destination: Kandy Drive: Approximately 3 Hour (75km)
After making a stop at a spice and herb garden in Matale, you will make your way to Kandy. Kandy is another world heritage site travelled by many travellers for its beauty, legacy and cultural importance in Sri Lanka. The evening is arranged to visit the temple of tooth relic or the Dalada Maligawa, a place of pilgrim for many locals. Then you will visit the Kandyan Arts and Cultural Center where you will sample Sri Lankas traditional dance and music.

Experience a very rare opportunity to visit an Elephant orphanage located in Pinnawela. The orphanage was established to treat and care for orphaned baby elephants and has now expanded to care for elephant patriarchs and adult wild elephants that need some extra love, care and protection.
Destination: Ratnapura Drive: Approximately 4 Hours (115km)
Continue your tour to Ratnapura, home to some of the worlds finest gems. The name Ratnapura can be directly translated to gem city. From the lush paddy fields, the waterfalls and the rubber/tea plantations create idyllic surroundings for the gem city.

After breakfast visit Sinharaja Forest Reserve. The forest is ideal for nature lovers who can explore and study the natural biodiversities and eco systems within this centuries old site. Gradually the forest has become home to endemic medicinal plants, animals, birds and reptiles that live cohesively together under the widely expanded canopy of the forest. . The dry zone forest is also used for bird watching and sightseeing.
Destination: Galle Drive: Approximately 5 hour (210km)
The geographical location of Sri Lanka or Ceylon as it was formerly known, places it in an ideal place between the west and the east. Indeed this is why Sri Lanka is shown on Ptolemys world map, one of the first maps of the world. This however has meant that Sri Lanka was vulnerable to foreign invasions and was eventually conquered by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. Even today you can see the remnants of the countrys colonial past, particularly so in the southern town of Galle. Walking around the heritage listed Galle Fort; you will notice the European architecture and other artefacts that have become important parts of the countrys history

Enjoy the breakfast and get ready to head for Negombo. The sandy beach portrays natures creativity or what some would otherwise call paradise. Should you choose to be a bit more adventurous, you have the option of requesting a city tour of Colombo from your chauffeur.
